Having selected your chosen career and enrolled for a course of study, natural tendency is for you to begin your studies.However there are certain preparatory works involved and skills that need to be acquired for you to do well in your studies. These "Foundation Skills" have to learned and practised.
- General study skills.
- English Language Skills
- Examination Techniques.
You need to understand and develop these skills or risk failing the subjects you are studying. Success in study depends not only on ability and hard work also on effective methods of study.No doubtd some gifted students can do more work in a given time and do it easily than others,but ability alone is not enough.Many intelligent students fail,either because they do insufficient work,or because they have never learned to study effectively. Each individual is different but moet students would benefit from a measure of orderliness and self-discipline.
To be an effective student,you must also be an efficient person and manage other aspects of your life in a sensible manner.This means planning your finances,living arrangement,diet,dress and exercise,and all other details of your personal life,as well as attending your classes regularly,being punctual and getting your work done at the right time.
